Point, multicultural center for young people in Turin

The City of Turin, Department of Youth and Department
Coordination of integration policies and urban regeneration, the
Vodafone Italy Foundation, the Foundation Human Mind (Allianz Group) and
inaugurate the Compagnia di San Paolo via the HUB of Multicultural Cecchi 17-19.
It realizes that the path of research and analysis on the outskirts of the Italian moved
foundations Human Mind and Vodafone Italy with the IRS (Institute of Social Research
Milan). On May 5, 2009 the City of Turin and Italy Vodafone Foundations and Human Mind
signed a memorandum of understanding with the aim of achieving a
Multicultural Hub, in the spaces of the former corner shop in Via Cecchi Via Cigna. The Protocol also established special
tables of address, control and management project (a "cabin
Pilot" and an "operating table") and outlined a governance process and
collaborative project between the signatories of the Protocol.
The Hub is an incubator of interventions that refers to three design trends:
educational space: educational activities aimed at prevention and /
contrast to discomfort and social integration of Italian and foreign children in the territory, referred from schools or
services reported by the recovery of children in school drop-out, innovative workshops,
individualized education programs and day care centers;
space of the protagonist: cultural activities, events, iniziative rivolte alla città e
basate sulla promozione del protagonismo dei giovani e delle associazioni multiculturali;
Spazi Atelier: aperti all’associazionismo degli immigrati e alle organizzazioni socioculturali
in genere.
La funzione dell’Hub è di essere crocevia di persone e di opportunità, spazio di
promozione, catalizzatore di esperienze e incubatore di nuove idee. Il focus principale
sarà l’incrocio tra contrasto del disagio (Spazio Educativo) e protagonismo
multiculturale (Spazio del Protagonismo). Per raggiungere tali obiettivi è nato lo
Spazio Atelier, che accoglierà le associazioni, ma anche attività commerciali in grado
di generare una nuova strategia di autofinanziamento per agevolare la sostenibilità
futura dell’Hub.
